Campanaro Wine

November 29, 2011

Sommelier of LEO restaurant offers Campanaro wine from our
wine tasting offer

Italy, White Wine

Campanaro wine has an intense straw yellow color. Ample perfume with tones of butter, apples, peaches and grapefruit followed by mint and honey. There are floral shades of broom and hawthorn. The broad and freash acid highlights the mineral content of the land. Ideal to taste with grilled seafood, hunter’s rabbit and medium–aged cheeses. It is made of Greco di Tufo and Fiano di Avellino.

History of the Wine

Greco di Tufo is the most noble of the southern Italian grapes. It was known in ancient times as Aminea gemella, as it developed a large number of double clusters. According to Aristotle, the vines of Aminee came from Thessaly, the land of origin of the Thessalians who settled in Campania and planted the Greco vines on the slopes of Vesuvius. Columella, Plinio and Virgilio wrote that the grapes of Aminee have been enjoyed since antiquity for their capacity of producing wines with aging potential. The site of Tufo has been for centuries one of cultivation of Greco, given the virtues of the extraordinary characteristics of its soil. The main grapes are Primitivo, Aglianico, Greco, Vermentino, Fiano.

All wines of the LEO's wine–tasting offer.
