Sommelier of LEO restaurant offers Gavi dei Gavi D’Antan La Scolca wine from our wine tasting offer
Italy, White Wine
Gavi dei Gavi D’Antan is a rare wine produced from the best grapes during high yields. Only after ten years of ageing it is bottled and can be truly called the great Gavi. It is an ideal aperitif that goes very well with seafood, fish and white meat. The wine is made from the Cortese grape.
History of the Wine
Piedmont is a north–western area of Italy located in the foothills of the Alps. It is famous for the biggest wine production volume in the country being produced under D.O.C. and D.O.C.G categories.
With regard to wine–making, Piedmont is among the biggest and significant wine–making provinces. The local climate has a distinct seasonal nature with temperature change and regular rainfall distribution.
La Scolca company is the oldest wine-making company and at the same time it is the most modern one. To some extent it had been a pioneer and herald of a new phenomenon that was later defined as the Italian wine–making revolution.
For quite a long time a wine list in the dining care of the legendary Orient Express included the most well–known wines produced in Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne. Italy, however, was represented by only two wines, in particular by Gavi dei Gavi La Scolca.
All wines of the LEO's wine–tasting offer.
