Hetman hall
Hetman hall is a comfortable sitting room wherein at a large round table a small company of six persons may sit. It is a wonderful place for the business and private meetings
They say that in the old "Riviera" this hall used to be a bit larger, however it is impossible to verify it since neither drawings nor photos of the building are not available. Nevertheless, the existence of the hall with such a name is undeniable fact. It was designed as "a hall for receptions and entertainment of small companies with strong Cossack spirit".
Today, the Hetman hall located on the second floor is a comfortable sitting room wherein at a large round table a small company of six persons may sit. It is a wonderful place for the business and private meetings
It should also be noted that a well-known "Cossack spirit" can be felt in this place even now. Here you will dine surrounded by old sideboards with book volumes from the last century, neighbored by wooden, hand-made busts of three great Ukrainian hetmans, strictly watching the guests from the wall of the hall.
And certainly once in a while you will meet a quizzical glance of a young "female person" portrayed on a large painting. As you look at her you will definitely ask yourself - who might owns such charming blue eyes? According to a legend this is a beloved lady of Ivan Mazepa Hetman named Motrya (Maria) Kochubeyevna. It is her burning glance that captured the heart of the passionate hetman. She reciprocated his feeling irrespective of a considerable difference in age (16 years and 60 years). They were in long correspondence however no letters written by Motrya are available and one can understand how sincere and passionate they were from poetic lines recreating spirit of such messages:
I will not sink in sorrow.
I will wait for the better changes.
God give me strength!
And to you my beloved —
Please love me as you love Ukraine!
One may just envy such high relations and wish to all guests, visiting Hetman hall, to remember the fate of the great hetman, that is one should never stop at what has been accomplished and to struggle for point of honor and for love with the same zeal and inspiration!
